I am incredibly fortunate that my family is bitten by the same travel bug as me :). We love to explore new places, meet new faces and experience different cultures. For the past few years, we have had the opportunity of escaping the cold Chicago winters for a warm tropical escape. While this is not our “typical” vacation, we do like the change. In most instances we actually end up finding a place to hike in the tropics, like the time we went to Curacao and hiked in Christoffel National Park.
But this year was different. We spent almost a week being true beach bums. It was as if we could not get enough of the water, the sand and the surf! – Maybe it was the fact that we had just returned from a month long trip in India where we camped and hiked in the mountains :).
Regardless of the reason, it was refreshing and rejuvenating to spend time soaking up the sun. Vitamin D is good for sun starved mid-westerners!!..LOL.
Grand Cayman is a beautiful island. The daily sunset was so beautiful and magical. We stayed on the 7 mile beach so we saw ย the magic unfold every evening.
It was a hard choice between the beach and the hotel pool! – the pool had beds and cabanas that were more inviting than our actual hotel room! ๐
One of the highlights of the trip was our snorkling adventure where we got to swim with the sting rays at Stingray bay. A must see for kids of all ages – once you get past the shock of actually having a stingray “climb” on your leg looking for food!!!!!
Cayman is a very tourist friendly island. You can walk to most places along the 7mile beach or even bike. If you want to make a quick trip into town, the local taxi ride is an adventure in itself ๐
Grand Cayman is a wonderful island – a quick getaway that is bound to delight and entertain everyone in the family.
