How I view Dinnertime | Naperville Lifestyle Photographer

A beautifully laid out table, perfectly matched plates and silverware with clean, crisp napkins, delicious hot meals and a family that all sit around the table, smiling and enjoying their meal….That is SO NOT how we eat in our household!!!!!!

In this month’s install of How I view series, my fellow photographers and I are exploring and documenting what Dinnertime means for each of us. At first I wanted to plan a perfect meal and take nice pretty pictures. Then I thought to myself “Who am I kidding??? – That is not how we do dinnertime at home”. So I decided to document reality and not fiction, hope dreamworld 🙂 🙂

Dinnertime

Here is how we handle Dinnertime in the Memorable Jaunts household!

We always have company at the dinner table – either Spiderman, Superman or a trio of cars are parked right next to the dinner plate. Across the table, we either have Fancy Nancy or Rembrandt’s protege sharing our table – We are truly blessed 🙂

But you know what! – I would take this rather than fancy dinners and perfect families – cause quirky as they are, I still love them so very much and know that in a few years, I will have my “dinner table” but will miss all the extra characters that bring so much character to our house :).

Follow along to my friend Julie’s post and see how Dinnertime is done at her house in the big apple!

carol - I can so relate to this! Legos, lalaloopsies, kitty…lol Never a dull moment. Love your perspective!

Erika - You make break bread! Delicious. I can relate to the extra company at the dinner table. Little ones definitely make dinnertime chaotic but I too will miss that.

Heidi Howard - beautiful shots! cherish the days of toys at the table because soon it will turn into cell phones!

kimberly walla - Love this and it looks very similar to our house at dinnertime. Great photos!

Marlo Yoshimoto - Your post made me smile so wide! I love the “extra” company you have at the table 🙂 Really precious!

Mary Beth - Oh I LOVE the race cards lined up, so stinking cute! Love that first image too!

Emily - Awww…I totally relate to this. I think it has been years since we have had a toy free dinner in our house.

Julie M - This is adorable! I love your take on this topic! And by the way your food, which you didn’t focus on at all, looks AMAZING! Can I come over sometime?!? 🙂

Camille - Seriously? You have time to make bread? 🙂 my daughter likes fancy nancy too. Oooh la la!

nadeen - Oooooh! I love your first image of the dough! What would dinnertime with kids be without all the accessories?!

stefanie - how cute is this?! i always have to discourage animals and cars on our table, because whenever they’ve been a part of dinner, there are spills, which then are followed by crying because the animals are dirty 🙂
