This past Saturday, June 22nd was the Great American Backyard Campout Day – a day when families across the country are encouraged to pitch a tent and camp out – be it in their own backyard or in a local park. The MJ family really looks forward to this day all spring/summer – in fact, the kids kept reminding us and asking us when were we going to camp outside!
In spite of a crazy day with swim meets, photoshoots and general chaos of a weekend, we pitched a tent out and slept under the stars π – it was such a great feeling. An added bonus, seeing and photographing the “super moon” whose light was shining into our tent all night long. In the morning, the clan commented “Can we please sleep in the tent for the whole summer???” Β – DONE π
Did you miss the Great American Backyard Campout this year? Make a note of the date for 2014 and start planning your own backyard camping experience!

Food is always a big part of any campout – be it in the wilderness or in your backyard – corn, burgers and grilled pineapple graced our campout and it was absolutely delicious!

A tent in the glow of the flashlight is just as magical as a tent during the day π

Β The icing on the cake – an unobstructed view of the 2013 Super Moon!
