How I view Shadows and Black&White Imagery

This month’s blog circle post is very interesting and thought provoking (to me, at least :)). Thats because I love color and after an especially long, cold winter, I am loving the burst of color all around as Spring makes it way into my life. So when my fellow photographers in my monthly blog circle picked Black and White Imagery and Shadow play as the topic for this month’s blog circle, I was a bit stumped.

Upon researching the best Black and White images and Shadow play, I realized that landscapes, wildlife and people photograph really well in B&W images. For a Lifestyle Photographer who enjoys all these three genres, I was thrilled! Shadows was a little harder to think about and photograph but I love a good challenge!!! 🙂

If you have been following this blog at all, you know how mountain crazy I am 🙂 – I must say I am loving the look of these landscape photos of  snow capped mountains in Black and White – makes them seems even more majestic (if that is even possible…LOL).

Something about photos of palm trees and blades of grass gently blowing in the wind evokes the wanderlust in me 🙂

One of the spiciest red chills ever! – these are deadly!!

The black, white and tan of a Belgian Malinois mix really pops in this B&W image (What can I say, I am very biased…I love this little 90 pound munchkin!!!)

Oh my world…this stork was dancing on water! I was mesmerized for a good 20 minutes before I remembered to periodically click the shutter as well…LOL

Something about a first dance in Black and White gives me warm and fuzzies 🙂

I could stare at her forever and smile 🙂

These stacking dolls finally got used for something…LOL. This setup was with a white board and a small flash light pointed at a 45 degree angle to the board….a simple DIY light box 🙂
